Day 149 - 2010

Weekend, a long one too. Did get the scooter from Toys R Us, despite the extra fee. As it is, after hours and hours of charge, it still does not move. Here we go again, replacement.

Programming is driving me nuts for now. The new features in ASP.NET are great, but with some flaws when it comes to cross browser compatibility.

I went to the Ashburn Summer Kickoff which was not that great. The fireworks were spectacular.

For the evening I rented “The Box” DVD. There is a movie which is extremely slow in the beginning, but picks up in the middle a little. It is an adaptation from a  short story “Button Button”, which I like a lot. The plot is pretty much hidden until the very end, another plus if you can sit through it.

Norma and Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger, delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world; someone they don't know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity.

Cameron Diaz and James Marsden are great in their roles, so is Frank Lagella.

BTW

another legend gone

Dennis Hopper, the director, star and co-writer of "Easy Rider" and an edgy actor in numerous other films, has died at age 74 after a lengthy illness, his production company Easy Rider Productions confirmed.

The actor known for portraying quirky villainous types died at the age of 74.

Hopper died at 8:15 a.m. PT at his home in Venice, CA, from complications of prostate cancer, a friend, Alex Hitz, told the Reuters news service.
