Day 126 - 2010

Contain the dog. Since he is such a wilder beast in his young age we installed a hidden fence around the back yard and the front yard. After some training today he seems to respect the boundaries. Just don’t let him find out that he can run right through it. Updates to follow.

Chloe’s team, the Dolphins won their first game today. They all hit like the champs. Way to go girls.

Here is what the proud coach had to say:

Parents,
Just wanted to say that was a great game and win for us last night.  We were down 1-0, 5-1, 9-5, and 10-9 and still won (12-10).  Prior to last night's game we had only scored 6 runs in 6 games.  What a breakout game that was for us.  We sent 35 batters to the plate and 31 of them connected with the ball (only 4 strikeouts).  By comparison, in game 2 we sent 28 batters to the plate and had 18 strikeouts.
The hitting stars were pretty much everyone on the whole team.  Julia, Jackie and Annica all hit the ball 5 out of 5 times.  Jackie and Annica had 2 doubles and Julia's double was the hardest, best hit we've had all year.  Coming into the year I knew Julia and Annica were the perfect 3 and 4 hitters as they hit the ball hard!
In addition, Chloe hit the ball 4 out of 5 times, Zennia was 2 for 2, Paxton 3 for 4, and our 2 six year olds, Madison and Sarah, were 4 for 4 and 3 for 5.  Amazing hitting!  Sarah's play at first was great, too, as if that ball got by her they would have added 2 more runs to their 10-9 lead.
Tonight I plan to do a lot of fielding work, as we have lots of room for improvement there.  Quite a few of our infielders need to be more aggressive in getting after the ball when it is hit near them.
See you tonight!

How time flies. Just a short couple of years ago Abby was playing on this softball field. Max and Chloe were playing on the play set behind the school. Here is what it looks like now

The professionals showed up at training today for soccer 101. Although I’m in the midst of revamping the tactics, we went with it anyway. Does not hurt to get some basics in.

Computerized

One Zero too many and the stock market comes down. How can it be possible to accept a transaction like that? Don’t they have any safe guards? Considering that 60% of the trading is done by computers this is somewhat out of hand – literally. I hope that there is a lesson learned and not just add-on restrictions. Who is watching the guards?
