Day 112 - 2010

The game was not rained out.  My daughter hit the first homerun of the season for the team and for herself.  It was amazing, perfect swing and the ball just kept on drifting towards the outfield, then it was the fence.  Way to go !!!!

Of course we were screaming so loud and almost falling of the bleachers that I forgot to take a video, @#$%^&.  Anyway here is Abby’s score, notice the little dot in the fourth inning on the top right hand site it is the HR.

Basketball spring season started, so here he is practicing:

I started going through some of my pictures from way back when and created blogs with travelpod.  Thanks to the features like date and time on the digital photographs I will be able to pinpoint the travel dates fairly accurately.  I took a lot of pictures, others laughed, of little stuff which comes in handy now. I always documented the pictures or trips, even when they were slides (remember those?).  I would use a highlighter, mark the route and attach yellow notes on it with the departure date, miles driven etc.. Centuries later this really comes in handy to place the pictures with a date.

Here is a slideshow of a trip you can put together online for free. I tested it by just adding 300 + pictures to it and let it run.  Of course I will revise it to reflect the actual trip, which led to Japan first and than Australia and back. The other thing I have to do is to figure out how I can get my TRAVEL page on this site incorporated with the new travelpod blog.

This travel slideshow of Peter Pfude’s trip to Sydney and Ashburn was created by TripAdvisor on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 1:57am UTC. Peter traveled 15,692 kilometers (9,750 miles) on this trip.

Like my dad collected some of his pictures in the fifties, I will piece together some of my life.

Signs

Driving down the road the other day I noticed a myriad of signs over a two mile stretch, realizing that they always have been there.  Is everybody doing that?  There are too many signs out there so we automatically see them and ignore them at the same time.  Why is it that on a left turn short lane their has to be a sign saying “left lane must turn left”, where else would you go?  Yes, there are insistence where a driver realizes that this is not the right turn and instead of turning and then correcting the mistake, he or she will try to get back to the main lane. “Keep off the median”, does this apply to police cars as well? And the list goes on and on.  At the end there are too many signs out there to be read – when are you driving? It is not advised to text (logical), make calls, eat, drink, etc while you drive since it is a major distraction.  So how come it is assumed that anybody can read the sign going 35 – 55 mph? By the time the driver gets to the point where the sign can be read it is too late.

Technology fast forward. Have the signs talk to the cars. Since audio seems a somewhat non distracting part of driving why not have the signs submit the warning or advice via Bluetooth to the car? If this is too much of a challenge use the GPS as guidance. Some of the better GPS systems display the proper speed limit on the screen (although it is not advised to look at the screen while driving), so why not have the signs be part of that system and talk to the driver?

Quit smoking progress
